blokd There were many people and events that I wanted to learn more about-for example, Simon Bolivar, who gets the briefest of mentions in the text, or Getulio Vargas, the longtime President of Brazil who committed suicide in office in Refresh and try again. The reason I couldn’t give it a full raving review is that I believe it’s geared to be used as a text, and this man doesn’t cite his sources. All the kids are reading this one.

I bborn enjoyed it, but I was turned off by the sudden shift in direction during the last chapter where the author delved a bit bllod environmental pollution in Latin America in a way that felt entirely one-sided. And there are some things which I like, like short “counter-narrative” chapters that showcases countervailing trends. Very well-written, Fure jumps around a bit but he does a great job blood the social and political history of Latin American countries. Want to Read Currently Reading Read. Low-brow SJWs will probably find this book deep. Read, highlight, and take notes, across web, tablet, and phone. Chasteen talked about the challenge of writing this book and the challenge of telling the story of nineteen Latin American countries as a single unit.

The reading was moderately entertaining, but this is not your typical history book.
